MANILA, Philippines—San Miguel Beer import EJ Anosike’s run with the Beermen was short-lived and he would be willing do suit up again if the opportunity arises.
Anosike and the Beermen made an exit in the 2024 PBA Governors’ Cup semifinals after being eliminated by Ginebra in six games.

“I got a great group of teammates and guys. I’ve been fortunate enough to play 12 games with San Miguel. It’s been very fun. A lot of the guys were really cool and [they’re] some of the best players I’ve had, so far,” said Anosike. “Everyone spoke English, [which] made the adjustment easier. I’m happy to be here and I’m happy to have played for San Miguel.”
Article continues after this advertisementWhen asked if he would be open to play for the Beermen again in the future, Anosike said no guarantees but kept his doors open.
Article continues after this advertisement“I enjoy the Philippines and I love to hoop so anyway I can play basketball, I’ll play.”
Article continues after this advertisementFor his curtain call with SMB, Anosike finished with 30 points, nine rebounds, five assists, a steal and a block.

Article continues after this advertisementThe 25-year-old swingman wasn’t San Miguel’s initial import for the Governors’ Cup as he replaced Jordan Adams in the tail-end of the tournament.
Despite coming in late, though, his presence was greatly appreciated by the Beermen, including star guard CJ Perez.

“We’re just grateful and blessed that he played his ass off in this series. He came late but he tried to adjust for our team and we’re proud of himjiliko,” said the shifty guard.
